Jesus Antonio Loria Quijano = Chucho Loria
I believe that architecture plays a pivotal role in any society because of its impact and because of its positioning that allows a limitless connection with any human field, expression, and hopes.
I am originally from Merida, in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, but came to the US so that Danielle, my wife, an Iowa native, could earn a masters in Spanish literature.
Currently, I am the Vice President of the board of Arts Iowa City, an organization promoting the creation of a community arts center in Iowa City. I also Co-Chair the Diversity Committee of the Iowa Chapter of American Institute of Architects.
Although I doodle a little, I like to experiment in visual arts, and I enjoy exploring different media, my main interests are in activities that foster critical discussion and generate ideas across different fields.
Jasmine Au
Jasmine was born in New York, surrounded by a lively concrete jungle. As a child, her family moved to Des Moines, Iowa for a safer environment to grow up. This dramatic change became the gateway to architecture and design as she learned to navigate the cultural and physical differences between rural and urban landscapes.
What excites Jasmine the most about design is its ability to elevate the lives of its users. Architecture can inspire innovation, engage interactions and evoke atmospheric and emotional responses that may not have initially existed. Beyond designing a floor plan, it is designing experience, way-finding, and more.
Jasmine has 5+ years of experience as an architectural designer. When she's not designing, she's drawing, painting, practicing yoga, or traveling.
